Flow-based microfluidic biochips use a control layer to deliver pressure to the valves of the flow layer, and how this control layer is routed affects the reliable operation of the chip in addition to conventional routing considerations.

This paper presents a control-layer routing method for flow-based microfluidic biochips that uses Bayesian optimization to search for reliable routing solutions, taking reliability into account together with the usual routing constraints.
